Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of our business; we install environmentally friendly energy systems, which also provide significant cost savings.

We install CHP or solar, with or without battery storage, and fully integrated energy systems.

They all provide sustainable, low CO2 solutions to the generation of industrial heat and power.

CHP is often considered better for the environment compared to conventional power generation methods because it can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.

Solar panels, when combined with battery storage installations, provide renewable electricity, even when the sun isn’t shining, which further reduces CO2 emissions and the reliance on fossil fuels.

Sustainable Fuels

Natural gas-powered CHP units usually do not replace renewable energy from wind and solar power plants.

They serve the specific power and heat demands of hospitals, hotels and factories, or are deployed in district heating networks to balance the fluctuating renewable energies.

CHPs, therefore, primarily replace the power production from conventional power plants. In combination with their high efficiency CHP units reduce the CO2 emissions by up to 60% when powered by natural gas.

Renewable fuels such as upgraded biogas (biomethane) and ‘green’ hydrogen and synthetic methane (SNG) obtained from renewable electricity, are increasingly being fed into the gas grid. In this way, a climate-neutral CHP operation is also possible with fuel from the gas grid.

The cost-effective, efficient and climate-neutral supply of electricity and heat can only succeed by decoupling renewable energy generation from fossil fuel consumption.

To achieve this, a broad infrastructure for ‘green’ gases generated from renewable power is needed.

Ideally, this will involve the further development of the already existing tightly-knit gas network with its large-scale storage facilities.
All CHP units built by us can already be operated with up to 20% hydrogen content in the fuel without any technical adjustments or power reduction. Some series with knock control and adapted engine management can even operate with up to 40% H2.

In addition, we will soon be able to provide a first CHP unit with a purely hydrogen-powered combustion engine. Based on this, we will also offer retrofit kits with which existing CHP units, which can be converted to pure hydrogen operation, for example, as part of a planned generator overhaul.

The sewage gas generated during the purification process in wastewater treatment plants is very similar to the gas produced in biogas plants.

Both types of gas can power CHP systems, which generate power and heat.

These modules can be combined to form larger CHP schemes or equipped for bivalent operation with natural gas or propane and can also be used to provide emergency power in the event of a mains failure and power outages.

CHP units run almost silently and are ideally suited for installation within operational buildings.
